ADMISSION AND CALENDAR

The KSM Piano Program calendar is divided into three semesters, typically following the academic calendar of Houston Independent School District. Fall semester typically occurs from August through mid-December before winter break. Spring semester typically occurs from early to mid-January through the end of May. Summer semesters are from June through mid-August ending when fall semester begins. KSM students are expected to register for at least 14 lessons per fall semester, 18 lessons per spring semesters, and 6 lessons per summer semester. Those requirements are communicated at the beginning of the academic year and again at the beginning of each semester when tuition is due. Summer semester is not required but highly recommended.

The registration deadline for returning students is typically August 10th for fall, December 1st for spring semester, and May 1st for summer.

NEW STUDENTS

Students new to the program will meet with the KSM director for a free trial lesson, and the students’ parents are expected to be present.

RETURNING STUDENTS

Invoices and required paperwork for registration are sent via email, to each student/family 3-4 weeks prior to each registration deadline by the KSM director. It is the family’s responsibility to check his/her email to print out and return the paperwork to KSM along with the tuition payment by the deadline specified on the invoice. Failure to do so may cause the student to lose their place in the program.

TUITION AND FEES

Students must pay tuition no later than the 10th of each month. Students also can pay tuition in full in advance for each semester. There is a $10 supply fee for the fall semester and $15 for the spring. No supply fee for the summer semester.

Summer Semester

We highly recommend taking 6-8 lessons for the summer semester. We understand that students will be taking trips outside of Houston, so scheduling should be made with the KSM director in advance. Students need to pay tuition in full in advance for summer semester, and the due date is May 30.
